Isabel's early life was spent in New Zealand where her experiences in rural and coastal areas influenced her choice of painting themes, including workboats and farm landscapes. Travels to many countries have also provided inspiration for paintings.

It was not until later in life, after retiring from teaching, that Isabel had time to pursue painting. She began with watercolours and continues to use this medium in her travel journals, but now works predominantly in acrylics.

Isabel has participated in many workshops, atelier classes, and online classes to improve her skills. Isabel lives in Maple Ridge and is an Associate Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Fraser Valley Chapter of the FCA. She is a member of the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Art Studio Tour and longtime member of the Garibaldi Art Club.
